On September 13, 2015, 24 students at Hargeisa University and Amoud University graduated with a Master’s Degree.
The one-year master’s programme gives midwives already working in clinical settings the opportunity to learn more about the rights of women, and sexual and reproductive health. Programme studies have students look at issues such as child marriage, female circumcision, unsafe abortions, and “child spacing”/contraceptives.
In the future, these graduates will hold teaching and leadership positions at universities and within government. They will come to educate hundreds of future midwives, run research projects, and work towards sustainable development in the region.
